Listed Buildings
Grade I listed buildings are considered to be of national importance, and the High has eight of these.
Grade II* listed buildings, however, are also extremely important and are considered to have some national significance. Nine business premises and three university buildings fall into this category, while Carfax House appears to be included in the Town Hall's listing
Grade II listed buildings tend simply to be of local importance: there are 59 Grade II listed shops in the High, 29 on each side (some listed as a group).
Only 23 shops in the High are not listed. The List Entry numbers below refer only to the parts of the buildings fronting the High: many have other listed parts.
