Oxford boundary markers: Private house, Godstow (1840)
This stone is only partially legible today, but John Gilbert recorded it in 1886 as saying:

This stone stands to the side of the private driveway of the thatched cottage to the left of Godstow car park.
In 1839/40 Thomas Mallam was Mayor and James Wyatt was Sheriff of Oxford.

Gilbert described it thus: “The boundary from Godstow ditch having kept the south side of the road to this point proceeds on the same side to stone No. 14, situated in the garden of the first cottage on the right, where the road turns into Wolvercote; this is a well preserved stone”
