The Lau Building of St Peter's College was originally called St George's Gate as it stands next to Oxford Castle's St George's Tower. Its foundation stone was laid on 27 January 1995 by Gordon White, Baron White of Hull, an Honorary Fellow of the College.
The building, designed by Marcus Beale Architects, is in Tidmarsh Lane, and the foundation stone is on its left-hand side facing the street. As shown in the photograph below, the building is on the east side of the Castle Mill Stream near Quaking Bridge.
