Oxford Inscriptions: Luther Street Medical Centre

Luther Street Medical Centre

This plaque, unveiled on 28th January 1999,
by Dr Hilary Allinson mbe and Mr David Collett
as representatives of the founders,
commemorates the opening of this building
and acknowledges the many individuals,
from the past, present, and future,
who support the work of the centre.

This plaque is on the front of the Luther Street Medical Centre, which is to the right of the O'Hanlon House Homeless Shelter.

This medical centre for the homeless originally opened in 1985, operating from a Portakabin. It moved into the current building in 1998, and the above plaque was installed at the beginning of the following year. It became a part of the Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust in 2013.

Dr Hilary Allinson was an Abingdon GP, and David Collett was the Director of Oxford Homeless Pathways Ltd.
