Oxford Ghost Signs: Boswell & Co. at 1–3 Broad Street
The whole of Boswell House at 1–5 Broad Street including the former Boswell's Department Store at Nos. 1–3, has been converted into The Store Hotel, but the words BOSWELL & CO remains over four of the former shop windows.
These inscriptions are not however original: the photograph below taken in 2003 shows that it originally said Boswells. Google Streetview shows that the change was made at some point between 2008 and 2012.
Boswell House was built in 1929 and most of the building was occupied by Boswell's until it closed in 2020: see more on the building's history here. .
