To the east of Magdalen Road there are today many newer twentieth-century houses
numbered 304 to 510 Cowley Road, continuing on from the last number used in 1893

They are intersected by three roads:
Howard Street (between Nos 364 and 366)
Shelley Road (between Nos 438 and 440)
and Milton Road (between Nos 462 and 464)

From 1889 to 1929 the City of Oxford stopped at the Boundary Brook:
hence it was at this point near the newer house numbered 510 that Cowley Road, Oxford
became Oxford Road, Cowley, and although the city boundary has since been extended
to include the whole of Cowley, this change of name still exists today
